Don’t let snow and cold keep your children from outdoor play this winter. When dressed appropriately, the benefits children receive from playing outdoors far outweigh the fears of frost bite! Active outdoor play combats childhood obesity, promotes gross motor development and helps reduce stress—for parents and for children! It is common to hear adults say that “my child will not like being in the cold weather,” or “the cold is too dangerous to play in,” or “there’s nothing to play with.” It is up to adults to focus on the importance of children’s play, regardless of the season. After all, play should not be restricted to warm weather. Let’s approach the winter season with a playful attitude.

The Kentucky Cabinet for Health & Family Services Division of Child Care is going to raise child care provider rates on December 1. A notice was sent out late Wednesday that stated that rates would be raised to the 40th percentile of market rates
4C for Children has received a $30,000 grant from the Vectren Foundation to help increase the number of quality rated child care programs in Fayette and Clinton counties. The State of Ohio has mandated that all child care providers must be quality rated by June 30, 2020, to maintain their license and serve children receiving child care subsidy.

To help you do that, the 4C for Children Leadership and Early Childhood Conference Planning Team has created some exciting opportunities for our Oct. 26-27 conference.
Sandra Woodall has been appointed by Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin to a three-year term on the Kentucky Child Care Advisory Council. Woodall serves as a team leader in 4C for Children’s Quality Programs department and leads the 4C for Children Northern Kentucky team based in Covington.

4C for Children is excited to host a team at the inaugural Tour de Gem, Dayton Cycling Classic on September 2 at Fifth Third Plaza in downtown Dayton. Tour de Gem is a charity cycling event to highlight the Dayton region for cyclists of all ages and abilities.
