Celebrating the Gift of Books
Happy World Book Day! Today is observed around the world as a day to celebrate the difference reading makes in all our lives. Books spark children’s imagination and stimulate curiosity. Reading to children and having children read regularly helps them develop social and communication skills and aids in the development of early literacy skills. For all of us during these challenging times as we are working from home and social distancing, books can help support our mental and emotional health as we find ways to cope.
In honor of World Book Day, take some time today to enjoy a print or audio book. Or get lost in a book with your whole family–either in person or virtually. Whether you’re each reading your own book, reading to children before going to bed, or listening to an audio book as you prepare your dinner, treat yourself and spend some time with a book today!
