4C for Children welcomes the following speakers who will give the Friday and Saturday keynote addresses at the 2022 Leadership and Early Childhood Conference.
Friday, Oct. 21: Maryum Ali
My Journey Working with Youth and Families
Maryum Ali, social worker, children’s book author, activist and the eldest daughter of Muhammad Ali’s nine children, will give the keynote address to open the conference on Friday. For over 15 years, she has worked with youth and families in the field of juvenile delinquency prevention and youth development in various capacities: as a case manager and program director for non-profit organizations and as regional manager for the Mayor’s Office of Gang Reduction & Youth Development in Los Angeles. The A&E Network heard about Maryum’s work and invited her to participate in the first season of a ground-breaking docuseries, “60 Days In,” where she served time in an Indiana jail as an undercover inmate in order to make recommendations about jail reform. Maryum is currently a public speaker and gives presentations across the country.
Saturday, Oct. 22: Dan St. Romain
Accentuate the Positive: Assessing Children’s Needs for Healthy Development
Dan St. Romain is a national educational consultant with a passion for character education, will give the breakfast keynote address on Saturday. Dan is passionate about helping individuals shift their perspective on behavior, understanding the best ways to provide support given the challenges posed in today’s society. He regularly presents on topics impacting school climate, brain-based instruction, developmentally appropriate educational practices and presentation skills. Dan’s overwhelming strength is his skill as a presenter. Although his sessions are exceedingly interactive and engaging, his greatest asset lies in his ability to offer participants rich insight into the connectedness between educational practices and student behavior.
