Embracing Differences
We’re on a journey
4C for Children strives to create a welcoming workplace that reflects the early childhood programs and families we serve and where everyone feels valued for their uniqueness, recognized for their diverse talents, and comfortable bringing their authentic selves to work.
We believe you should be you.
That’s why we stand for equity and inclusion across the early childhood arena and against any form of discrimination based on: race, nationality, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, age, neurodiversity, disability or economic status or any other aspect that makes you unique.
Our diverse workforce creates a stronger and more creative work environment that fuels our successful service to our clients and to the community. It helps fulfill our mission and ensure that ALL children have access to quality early learning options.
We are a work in progress. 4C for Children leadership, staff and volunteers working together have made strides and are committed to continuing to struggle, grow and implement to ensure equity for all.
Here’s some of the ways we’ve adjusted our practices to reflect our beliefs:
- Creating a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team to review practice, lead change within the agency and ensure that we are aware of bias and that we continue to promote equity and inclusion in our work, our policies and within our agency leadership
- Observing Martin Luther King Jr. Day as a day of reflection for our entire agency.
- Celebrating Unity Day
- Committing to seek out and hire a diverse population of staff
- Seeking out opportunities to know more and do better by attending local, regional and national equity programs and integrating those learnings into our internal and external practices.
