Hamilton County early childhood educators now have access to a new resource to help when facing social-emotional and behavioral challenges with the children in their care thanks to a grant from the Ohio Department of Children and Youth. The Growing Stars Therapeutic Child Care Network provides support, training and resources to meet these needs head-on.
All licensed child care providers in Hamilton County are eligible for the program, including centers, private preschools and licensed family child care (FCC) providers.
Growing Stars benefits include:
- Training for educators and leaders that introduce RCFP principles, including trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing and family engagement.
- Classroom observation and coaching that provide on-site support and guidance for teachers navigating challenging behaviors using proven strategies.
- Screening and resource coordination to help identify and connect children with emotional or behavioral health needs to the right services and supports.
- Therapeutic child care placement for children ages two and a half to give who are struggling in typical child care settings. Referrals can be made to the therapeutic classrooms at CoStars Early Education.
