          Attend Super Saturday & Earn 4 OA hours

          May 20, 2026

          We’re counting down the days until the deadline for child care providers to earn their Ohio Approved Professional Development (PD) hours. All Step Up To Quality (SUTQ)-rated program staff are required to complete at least 10 hours of training.

          Don’t stress about making the grade! We are hosting a Super Saturday Training Event that will allow you and/or your team to earn four hours of Ohio Approved training online.

          2026 Licensing Rule Revision Training Sessions & Resources

          May 5, 2026

          The Department of Children & Youth (DCY) is making licensing rule changes to reduce the administrative burden, modernize and clarify rules and add more flexibility for child care providers. These revisions take effect July 1, 2026. DCY has also created a field guide to help you better understand rules and how to implement them.

          Your Questions Answered: Professional Development Requirements

          Woman in classroom settingJuly brings summer heat, fireworks and cookouts. This year, it also brings changes to professional development (PD) requirements for Step Up To Quality (SUTQ)-rated programs. Keep reading for the changes and what you’ll be required to complete by June 30.

          All SUTQ lead and assistant teachers are required to complete 10 hours of professional development training by June 30 every year regardless of their program’s rating. For a list of upcoming training opportunities, click here.

          Register for the April Training Blitz

          Join us in April as we celebrate The Week of the Young Child with a month-long training blitz! In addition to having the opportunity to attend some amazing Ohio Approved training sessions that focus on collaboration, art, music, family and nature, each participant will also receive:

          Explaining the Changes to Step Up To Quality

          June 18, 2024

          Starting July 7, the new Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) standards will go into effect. All currently rated programs will have until July 1, 2025, to begin implementing the new SUTQ standards.

          Quality rating banners will feature Bronze, Silver and Gold awards. This rating system change is being made throughout Ohio.

          Providers: Biennium Deadline is Approaching

          May 2, 2023

          The current professional development (PD) biennium comes to an end on June 30, 2023.

          This means all administrators, lead teachers, assistant teachers and family child care providers working in Step Up To Quality star-rated programs must have completed 20 hours of Ohio Approved training.
