The U.S. child care industry has an economic impact of $99 billion with nearly 60 percent of children under age 5 regularly attending some form of child care. This is according to the Committee for Economic Development’s 2019 Child Care In State Economies report.
The 2019 update examines the child care industry’s effect on parents’ participation in the labor force, and provides extensive details regarding the industry’s impact on regional economic growth and development, including: usage rates, the role of public funding, revenues, and business structure.
