          Fun and Easy Playdough Recipe

          May 8, 2025

Everyone remembers growing up and playing with playdough. Whether you were rolling it into a ball, making the latest chunky jewelry or making imprints with household items, playdough is a great activity that will make memories that last a lifetime.

It’s more than just fun. Playdough allows children to use their imagination, strengthens the muscles in their fingers and supports social skills, like sharing and taking turns.

Not only is playdough fun to play with, it’s also fun to make. Here is a simple recipe from one of our specialists that you can use at home or in the classroom.

          Ingredients

          • 2 cups flour
          • 1 cup salt
          • 2 cups water
          • 2 Tablespoons cooking oil
          • 4 teaspoons cream of tartar
          • Food coloring, 2 Kool-aid packets, tempera paint OR Liquid Water Colors

          Steps

          1. Mix dry ingredients.
          2. Add boiling water, oil and coloring.
          3. Mix in the bowl.
          4. Knead the playdough until smooth.
