            Create Your Spring Bucket List

            March 26, 2025

Spring is finally here! The weather is beginning to warm up, flowers are blooming and the little ones are playing outside more. Not only are children ready to feel the warmth of the sun on their skin and the breeze in their hair, but parents are also eager to get outside.

This is a great time of year for your family to create a bucket list of all the fun-filled crafts, recipes and outdoor adventures you want to do. Here’s some ideas to help you come up with your family’s spring-time bucket list.

            Outdoor Adventures:

            • Have a picnic. Gather your favorite springtime snacks and drinks and head to the park for a picnic.
            • Go fishing. Visit a nearby lake, river or stream and spend the afternoon fishing with your friends or family.
            • Plan a nature scavenger hunt. An outdoor scavenger hunt is fun for the whole family. You can find printable scavenger hunts online or create your own unique challenge for kids and adults.
            • Collect and paint rocks. Go on a hunt for fun-shaped pebbles and rocks. Once you are home, get the paint out and make a masterpiece. Keep them for your own collection or go hide them in the park for others to find.
            • Get out the sidewalk chalk. Creating art on the sidewalk can be a family affair. Let your imagination run wild as you and your child draw up a springtime picture or a fun obstacle course.

            Crafts:

            • Make bird feeders. Use recycled materials like pinecones, peanut butter and birdseed to make your feeders. Hang them in your yard and enjoy watching feathered visitors.
            • Decorate flowerpots. Terracotta pots and acrylic paint make for an easy indoor or outdoor project. Remember to plant a flower in the pot when you are finished.
            • Egg decorating. Get creative by using natural dyes, stickers and paint on your eggs. Display your decorated eggs as festive spring decorations.

            Recipes:

            • Make fresh fruit salad. Combine a variety of seasonal fruits like strawberries, blueberries and kiwi for a refreshing and nutritious fruit salad.
            • Decorate cupcakes. Make cupcakes and decorate them with colorful icing, fruit and other edible decorations.
            • Make homemade lemonade. Squeeze fresh lemons and mix the juice with sugar and water to create a thirst-quenching drink perfect for warm spring afternoons.

Creating a spring bucket list can be just as fun as completing the activities. Make sure you get input for everyone and remember activities can be big or small and often free. Plan for sunny and warm days and wet and chilly days with both indoor and outdoor activities. Have fun planning and playing in the days of spring!
