Preschool Promise Initiatives
A key part of 4C's mission is to advocate for public support for quality early education and care for all children. 4C is proud to support the following initiatives that will expand access to quality preschool in two of the regions we serve.
Cincinnati Preschool Promise
The Cincinnati Preschool Promise has worked for several years in a community-driven way to build broad support to dramatically expand access to quality preschool throughout the city of Cincinnati. Working together, Cincinnati Preschool Promise and Cincinnati Public Schools sponsored a combined levy on the November 2016 ballot that will provide $15 million per year to expanding access to preschool for those living within the Cincinnati Public School district over the next five years.
Montgomery County Preschool Promise
The Montgomery County Preschool Promise is an initiative designed to ensure that all children can attend at least one year of affordable, high quality preschool. The goal is to help every child start school fully ready to learn. A demonstration of the Preschool Promise is underway in Kettering and Northwest Dayton and the Montgomery County Preschool Promise hopes the program will go county-wide by 2018 or 2019.
4C helped implement the pilot program used in the Kettering city schools and is actively participating in the demonstration model by assisting:
- parents to determine eligibility.
- parents to find quality preschool options.
- high-quality program providers with accessing tuition reimbursement.
- all providers in improving quality through incentives, coaching and training.
