Update for Ohio Providers: Why Are People Covering Their Faces?

            April 30, 2020

Here’s a quick snapshot of the latest resources and information we have today, April 30, 2020.

            All Programs

Why Are People Covering Their Faces?
Following the Centers for Disease Control recommendations, Gov. DeWine has encouraged all Ohioans to wear masks when in public to help limit the spread of COVID-19. But some young children may feel uneasy about seeing others wearing masks. Here’s some helpful tips to help children understand why wearing a mask is a good thing and not something to be frightened of. For visual learners, check out this resource from Cincinnati Children’s.

2020 Census: Making Sure All Children Are Counted
The 2020 U.S. Census is underway and now is the time to make sure we are all counted, especially our community’s children. In 2010, it’s estimated about 1 million young children were not counted—the highest undercount of any age group. When children are missed in the Census, programs such as the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP), the National School Lunch Program, and the Children’s Health Insurance Program miss out on funding.

Let your families know how important completing the Census is and help ensure this undercount doesn’t happen again. And don’t forget to complete your Census, too!
