          Enjoy These No-Bake Monster Cookies

          June 25, 2026

Cooking and baking with your child is a great way to teach them about about math, help improve fine motor skills and increase confidence. This is a life-long skill that you can start early with your toddler or preschooler.

Use the recipe below for a great activity that doesn’t require any baking! Start by walking through the recipe with your child. Then, practice good hygiene habits by washing your hands. Once you’re ready, have your child help measure with your support and guidance (especially with the peanut butter and honey). Then have fun stirring and rolling the dough into balls. Don’t worry about making a mess, that’s half the fun!

          No-Bake Monster Cookies

          Ingredients:

          • 2½ cups oats
          • 1 cup peanut butter
          • ½ cup honey
          • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
          • ½ cup chocolate chips
          • ½ cup M&Ms

          Directions

          1. Stir together the oats, peanut butter, honey and vanilla until combined.
          2. Stir in the chocolate chips and M&M candies.
          3. Roll dough into balls and place on a baking sheet.
          4. Put them in the fridge for 30 minutes to set and enjoy!
          5. They can last up to two weeks in an airtight container.

Children learn through play. This is just one activity that can help your child grow developmentally. We have more activities in our Learn Through Play calendars that promote learning and fun for you and your child. Check them out here.

          Summer Water Safety Guidelines

          May 28, 2025

A young child wearing pink swim gear and yellow goggles practices swimming in a pool, reaching forward with both arms, while an adult in a red swim cap smiles and watches from nearby.

On hot summer days it’s hard to resist playing in or near water. Although water play is fun and relaxing, remember to remain aware and vigilant about safety. This is exceptionally important since the leading cause of death for children under age 4 is drowning. In addition to the dangers around a pool, there are also dangers inside the home. Here are eight tips to help keep children safe.

          Play the Day Away!

          September 26, 2024

Two young children sit on a wooden floor, playing with colorful plastic building blocks scattered around them in a bright room with large windows and curtains.Building a castle of blocks, dreaming up a dramatic plot for dolls or running a pretend restaurant with plastic food. These are all great ways to play—and learn!

Play is essential for early childhood development, which spans ages zero to eight. It serves as a powerful channel for young children to  explore, learn and make sense of the world around them.
