4C for Children, the leading child care resource and referral agency serving Southwest Ohio and the Miami Valley, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dean Woodring as its new President and Chief Executive Officer.
An advocate for innovation and ensuring access for all, Woodring brings more than three decades of education and leadership roles across public schools, higher education, and national organizations. She succeeds retiring President/CEO Vanessa Freytag, who has led the agency for the past 10 years.
“I am honored to join 4C for Children at such a pivotal time,” said Woodring. “Together with the dedicated staff, board, and community, I look forward to expanding on the organization’s legacy and deepening its impact.”
Most recently, Woodring served as deputy director of education for the American Montessori Society where she expanded teacher education programs and professional development offerings. Through her experiences in Montessori, Woodring understands the critical importance of a child’s early years of development.
She previously held leadership positions in Cincinnati Public Schools, including director of school leadership where she served as liaison between schools and the district office, and as a teacher and then principal at Cincinnati’s Clark Montessori High School, the nation’s first public Montessori high school. Woodring’s career also includes time as assistant superintendent of teaching and learning for Wellesley Public Schools in Massachusetts.
“Dean is a dynamic leader whose experience and collaborative approach are exactly what 4C for Children and the community need to continue the essential work of building strong educational foundations for children by being a valued resource for the adults who care for them,” said 4C for Children Board Chair Stephanie Byrd.
Woodring holds a doctorate in education leadership from Harvard University, a master’s in English literature from Middlebury College, and multiple teaching and administrative licenses in Ohio. In addition to her professional work, she is a dedicated community volunteer, board member, and business owner.
“I am honored to join 4C for Children and build upon its strong foundation,” said Woodring. “Child care is the backbone of a thriving community, and I’m eager to start working with families, providers, and partners to ensure every child has access to quality care and early learning experiences.”
