Quality Rating Systems and National Accreditations

4C encourages child care providers to work on a national accreditation or a state quality rating. These voluntary quality indicators can help families identify quality care. Accredited or rated programs have fewer children per classroom, staff with training in child development, safe and healthy environments and quality curriculum and administrative practices.

Listen to a CET video interview with President / CEO Sallie Westheimer about the importance of choosing quality in early care and education--and how to use state quality-rating systems to "reach for the stars" for your child.
