Developing Early Childhood Leaders (DECL)

A 10-month seminar program for early childhood program directors

Leadership Matters

If you are highly motivated and have a minimum of two years experience in the administration of an early care and education program, the Developing Early Childhood Leaders (DECL) program is for you!

Join a growing number of early childhood program administrators who are investing in their leadership capability by participating in the Developing Early Childhood Leaders (DECL) program offered by 4C for Children. The 10-month seminar offers in-depth professional development for the directors, board members and owners of early childhood programs and centers. A past participant said she was so empowered by DECL that it "changed the way that I look at the community and myself.”

A Different Kind of Program

For years 4C has offered workshops and conferences that focus on the day-to-day management of early childhood programs. But DECL is different. This in-depth program strengthens key leaders by encouraging personal reflection through a community of learners and the presentation of advanced topics. Participants also receive coaching support to implement a change project in their own programs.

Dynamic expert presenters cover these topics:

  • Developing your personal philosophy and strengths
  • Strength-based supervision
  • Evaluating your early childhood program
  • Managing effectively through change
  • Using data-driven decision making
  • Leading a strategic plan for your program
  • Managing your program’s finances
  • Collaborating and advocating in the community

Your Leadership Journey Starts Here

Locations for the DECL program rotate annually between our three regional offices (Cincinnati, Dayton and Covington). Scholarships are available.
