At what age can
I leave my child alone? Is my child ready?
4C
was recently contacted for advice on one of the hardest decisions a
parent must make--at what age can a child stay home alone? School-age
children often insist they are old enough to stay home alone. With the
downturn of the economy, many parents have faced challenging child care
options. Seeking advice on the right time to leave a child alone is
a smart option.
- Read 4C's BlogParents for what to consider
before leaving a child home alone.

4C's Karen Middendorf and other community leaders have to say on
this topic at CincySchoolZone.com.

From the 4C
Parent Blog
Why do some
children bite?
Children
bite for a variety of reasons. When young children lack skills and
strategies to communicate their feelings and needs
effectively, biting becomes a way of expressing frustration. Read

Learning Every Day
Opposite Game! An
activity for a middle infant
Enrich
your child's language development by playing opposite games! Place your
child over your head and say, "Mary is high!" Then, move
your child close to the floor and say, "Mary is low!" Other
opposite ideas include: big, little; open, close; front, back; on, off;
etc. Opposite games are one of many everyday
activities to help your child learn. A new
activity using everyday supplies is presented on the 4C Web site each
week.

Health and Nutrition Tips
Let preschoolers
just 'dip it!'
Young
children think that immersing foods into a tasty dip is pure fun--and
delightfully messy! Make everyday snacks even better with a dip for all
types of fruits and vegetables: bananas, kiwi, apples, pears, cucumbers,
cherry tomatoes and carrots. Visit the 4C recipe page for more creative ideas!
