New board, new annual report, new awards

4C reports 176,317 children positively impacted in 2010

And save this date: Jan. 28, 2012!

2010 Annual Report

The question "Why 4C?" was repeatedly asked-and answered-at 4C for Children's May 2 annual meeting. Board chair Pamela Page called attention to the cover of the 2010 Annual Report which headlines this question and promises "176,317 answers inside!" This is the number of children positively impacted by 4C through its services to families and child care providers in 2010-and it continues to grow every year.

"This number, along with the many other numbers highlighted in the 2010 Annual Report adds up to a very compelling answer to the question 'Why 4C?'," Pam emphasized to the audience of board members, past presidents and staff gathered at the new United Way of Greater Cincinnati Fifth Third Bank Convening Center.

New Board, New Officers

Myrita Craig, president of Blackbook EMG, was elected to a first term on the Board. Her connection to 4C goes back to the 1980s when she cochaired a 4C task force on the child care needs of single parents. Two current board members were reelected for a second three-year term: William Creecy III and Marla Hurston Fuller.

Pamela Page, recently retired vice president of world wide quality assurance for Procter & Gamble, was reelected to a second term as board chair. Other elected officers: for vice chair, Helen Habbert, president of QRC Associates; for secretary, Andrew Kwiatkowski, attorney with Dinsmore Shohl; for treasurer, Davida Gable, CFO, PowerNet Global.

New awards

The 2010 Ohio Nonprofit Excellence Award was presented to 4C at a May 5 luncheon in Columbus for the development and implementation of the Developing Early Childhood Leaders Seminar. This award from the Ohio Association of Nonprofits Organizations recognizes the creativity, execution, achievement and overall excellence of a specific program completed in 2010.

This leadership seminar meets an unmet need in this region and provides in-depth professional development to directors, board members and owners of early childhood programs and centers, says Janet Keller, 4C's vice president for professional development. The goal of this seminar is to develop successful leaders who can not only run a quality early childhood program but who also become advocates for quality early education and care in the larger community.

The 2010 Vision Award was presented to 4C April 14 by the United Way of Greater Cincinnati-Eastern Region for its commitment and dedication to improving the quality of early childhood education in Clermont County. 4C has helped 28 of 61 child care programs in Clermont County achieve quality ratings, giving Clermont one of the highest concentrations of quality child care in the state.

Staff members Kim Ginn and Patty Stefanik received the award on behalf of 4C. Kim is 4C's director of quality initiatives and Patty is 4C's Clermont County specialist.
