Toyota: A 2011 'Champion for Children'

Toyoto logo

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America is committed both locally and nationally to improve the lives of children. From its One to One Literacy Program (where Toyota team members from the manufacturing headquarters in Erlanger work once a week for 16 weeks with struggling readers at Lindeman Elementary) to Buckle Up for Life (a partnership with Children's Hospital to educate the local Hispanic community on the importance of vehicle safety, seat belts and car seats for children). This program, with a $1 million donation from Toyota, is now expanding to Los Angeles, Lexington, San Antonio and Chicago.

Toyota also stands out among Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky employers in its commitment to provide quality, employer-subsidized child care for employees at a site convenient to its Northern Kentucky headquarters. This child care program, managed for Toyota by Children, Inc., serves 106 children and has received the highest rating in Kentucky’s quality rating system, STARS for KIDS NOW.

Toyota also supports many other local child-centered community efforts including “Kids Get in Free” at the Cincinnati Symphony, the Cincinnati Zoo’s Edzoocation Program and performances in Northern Kentucky elementary schools through the Playhouse in the Park’s Education Outreach Program.

Toyota invests its resources—both personnel and dollars—in ensuring a bright future for the children of our community—and of our nation.

Other 2011 honorees include Eric Kearney and Digi Schueler.

For an honor roll of past 4C Champions for Children.
