Eric_Kearney

Eric Kearney
has served as senator for Ohio’s Ninth District since 2005. During this time he has maintained a laser focus on issues that affect Ohio’s children. His impacts on Ohio children include:

  • a loan program granting financial assistance for families seeking to adopt.
  • legislation leading to Ohio’s booster seat law.
  • Healthy Choices for Healthy Children legislation to decrease and prevent childhood obesity in Ohio schools through exercise, healthy foods and education.
  • an annual 107-mile walk from Cincinnati to Columbus to call attention to children’s health issues.
  • legislation assisting homeowners with the financial costs of removing dangerous lead paint.

Before his service in the Senate, he demonstrated his concern for early education and care by volunteering to offer workshops at 4C for Children on the legal issues involved in starting a child care center. He later served as a member of the 4C Board of Trustees. He and wife Jan-Michele Lemon Kearney have two children, Celeste and Asher. In 2004 they were honored as the Black Family Reunion’s “Family of the Year.”

Other 2011 honorees include DIgi Schueler and Toyota.

For an honor roll of past 4C Champions for Children.
