4C for Children

Interested in becoming a family child care provider?

Not everyone can play an instrument, drive a bus, or do many other things, nor should they try. Neither should everyone care for children! Ask yourself:

  • Do I enjoy children and feel good about spending hours alone with them?
  • Do I communicate well with parents?
  • Can I accept children as my major responsibility while they are in my home?
  • Am I friendly, warm, understanding and affectionate?
  • Do I have patience and self control?
  • Am I healthy, and strong enough to be on the job and with children all day, five days a week?
  • Do I like to provide challenging activities for children?
  • Do I have (or can I get) adequate toys and furniture for the children?
  • Does my home provide plenty of hazard-free space, indoors and out, for children

What are some of the benefits of providing child care in my home?

  • You can be earning income while being home with your own children.
  • Your children will benefit form learning to share with and care for other children.
  • Expenses for toys and equipment as well as much of the upkeep of your home will be tax deductible.
  • You can participate in professional child care organizations that offer support to you both as a parent and caregiver.
  • You will be introduced to many other resources and training opportunities that will benefit your whole family.
  • Last, but not least, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you have played an important role in getting our next generation off to a good start in life; and their parents off to work with peace of mind.
