Leaders Wanted!
Ninth Annual 4C Leadership Conference set for Oct. 13 - 14

Fostering leadership in others is just as important as being a leader. That's why 4C has chosen "Leadership--Pass It On!"as the theme for the Ninth Annual 4C Leadership Conference. The conference will be held Oct. 13 and 14 at the Oasis Conference Center in Loveland, Ohio. This two-day event will be filled with sessions for directors, owners and administrators that will inspire and motivate.

"Mentors do not choose; they are chosen," says Tonya Matthews, vice president of museums at the Cincinnati Museum Center and our featured preconference speaker. Attendees at the preconference will explore the notion that every teacher is by definition a leader--and learn how to transform those skills that lead children to success into tools that lead their programs to success.

Sample of sessions:
  • Keeping the Best and Brightest Staff: Retention Techniques That Work
  • Professionalism and Social Media
  • Shut the Back Door! Maintaining the Enrollment You've Gained
  • Succeeding With Challenging Employees
Ohio child care providers can register at OPDN.org, and Kentucky child care providers can call 859-781-3511 x1301. For more information, visit 4C's Web site.

What's on Your Plate?
USDA unveils MyPlate

Child care providers in homes and centers have a new way of thinking about balanced meals thanks to the new nutrition guidelines from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The iconic food pyramid has been replaced by a new design called MyPlate and pictured here. The simple design gives busy parents and child care providers a visual cue for thinking of nutrition when they're serving food to children--and themselves!
