Northern Kentucky Leadership Conference a Success! May 20: a day of leadership and learning
 | Session participants at the recentl Northern Kentucky Leadership Conference.
|
In her keynote, Roni Christopher asked the more than 50 directors,
administrators and teachers in attendance to consider how many times
their names are mentioned in the lifetimes of the children in their
care. Exploring the many challenges faced by directors and
administrators -- such as staff turnover or limited budgets -- Roni
urged each attendee to consider the importance of providing the very
best care and education for children."You're shaping the minds of
children who are going to grow up and cure cancer," Roni said.
Session
attendees also explored: how their parenting values influence their
interactions with other parents and children; how to manage challenging
employees; and how kindergarten readiness impacts the community. John R. Green Company gave away a crib following a presentation on the new crib standards, and the lunch hour included many giveaways from Lakeshore Learning Materials.
"Our
generous sponsors gave away many free educational supplies, but the
most important takeaway was new knowledge and skills to make child care
programs in Northern Kentucky strong," says Julie Witten, director of
Northern Kentucky Services. "Children fare better in programs with
highly trained staff, and these directors showed their commitment to
children by spending a day strengthening their leadership and management
skills." |
Earn your Child Development Associate at 4C! Changes to CDA in Ohio, new sessions in all regions beginning this fall
Beginning
this fall, earning your Child Development Associate (CDA) in Ohio at 4C
is easier and more economical than ever. The 4C CDA Preparation Program
offers participants convenient class times and locations, skilled
instruction, assistance with documentations requirements and the
opportunity to learn within a community of other early childhood
education professionals.
"After being in child care for 15
years, I decided to make early childhood education a career instead of a
job," says Jennifer Lyons, a CDA graduate. For teachers interested in
pursuing their education even further, the CDA credential is accepted
for college credit at many local community colleges, including
Cincinnati State, Sinclair and Gateway Community College.
In Cincinnati and the Miami Valley, "All About the CDA: Orientation to the CDA Process" is free but mandatory.
This session covers the changing expectations for early childhood
professionals and the place of the CDA in the profession today.
Questions will be answered about costs, commitment, registration
