Champions for Children:
The Next Generation

4C Youth Award4C for Children has been recognizing adult community leaders who champion children since 2006. For a second year, 4C will also honor the next generation of Champions for Children with a youth award.

The "Champions for Children: The Next Generation" award celebrates a project involving high school students in grades 9-12 who are taking action on behalf of the children of our community. The goal is to reinforce in the leaders of tomorrow the importance of investing in the children of today–especially those from birth to age 8.

To be eligible:

1. A project must demonstrate the direct involvement of high school students and do one or more of the following:

  • empower and educate young children through direct service
  • provide leadership or raise awareness on an issue that impacts young children
  • improve the quality of life of young children

2. A project must be nominated by a school administrator (superintendent, principal, guidance counselor).

3. A project must be complete or be able to show measurable evidence of success by the time of its nomination.

To nominate a project:

A nomination must be submited no later than Oct. 1, 2012. Download a nomination form here. The nomination must include:

  • a brief description of the project and its outcomes (no more than 300 words)
  • the number of students who have participated (and their ages)
  • the project leader(s)
  • a contact person

Based on nominations, projects that most closely fit the award criteria will be selected as finalists and invited to submit more indepth information.

The award-winning project and its team will be announced in mid-November. The "Champions for Children: The Next Generation" award will be presented at 4C's 2013 Champions for Children Gala.
