New Step Up To Quality Prerequisite Requirements
SUTQ Specialized Training is approved training for administrators, lead teachers and assistant teachers. This is an annual training requirement that is based on employee’s hire date. Approved specialized training is based on current research and evidence based practices. Ten hours of specialized training is now required annually for all programs. In-service training in basic health and safety such as First Aid, CPR, Communicable Disease and Child Abuse do not count as specialized training.
NEW as of July 1, 2009, SUTQ Prerequisite hours for all Steps:
All job functions (administrators, infant and toddler teachers, preschool teachers and school-age teachers) are required to take 10 hours of prerequisite training.
SUTQ Pre-requisite for Administrators
Currently, 7.5 hours of New Administrator Rules Review Training (revised 1/07) and 2.5 hours of approved specialized training relevant to goals on Professional Development Plan is required until 10 hour Administrator Core Competency pre-requisite training is available.

SUTQ Pre-requisite for Preschool Teachers
10 hours of Early Learning Content Standards
- Language/Literacy college coursework completed after 2002
- CORE
- SIRI and OELCS offered by Q-Net
- ODJFS approved Ohio’s Early Learning Content Standards training
SUTQ Pre-requisite for School-age Teachers
10 hours of the Six Basic Afterschool Initiative Trainings (“It’s…” workshops)
