'Learning Through Play'
4C is a lead partner of “Learning Through Play,” an event presented by the Duke Energy Children’s Museum on March 28.
“The conference is focused on families and how to identify, promote and engage a child in ‘teachable moments’ that occur when children are at play,” says Jamie Story, 4C family outreach specialist. “We encourage all parents and child care providers to attend!”
4C is one of nine lead partners from the health, education and social service communities of Greater Cincinnati who have been part of the planning for this event. Other lead partners include Beech Acres Parenting Center, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency, Every Child Succeeds, Success by Six™, Strive, the Charles H. Dater Foundation and United Way of Greater Cincinnati.
4C staff will present three break-out sessions covering:
- What parents should consider when choosing quality child care
- How to maximize a child’s learning experiences while in the care of family, friends or neighbors
- Ohio’s child care quality-rating system, Step Up To Quality
The one-day event will include an information fair on school readiness, open forums, family interactive sessions and more than 60 educational sessions around preparing children for school and how to use play as an effective tool in educating young children.
Program offerings and registration details are available on the Cincinnati Museum Center Web site (www.cincymuseum.org).
